What is an SSL Certificate?
SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificates encrypt the connection between your browser and a website. When you see the padlock icon in your browser's address bar, it means the site has a valid SSL certificate.
Key things to check:
- Validity - Is the certificate trusted and not expired?
- Expiration Date - When does the certificate expire?
- Issuer - Who issued the certificate? (Let's Encrypt, DigiCert, etc.)
- Subject Alternative Names - What domains does it cover?
