What are DNS Records?
DNS (Domain Name System) records are instructions that tell the internet how to handle requests for a domain. Common record types include:
- A Record - Maps domain to IPv4 address
- AAAA Record - Maps domain to IPv6 address
- MX Record - Specifies mail servers for the domain
- NS Record - Identifies authoritative nameservers
- TXT Record - Stores text data (SPF, DKIM, verification)
- CNAME Record - Creates an alias to another domain
